Every 15 minutes, someone in England and Wales is diagnosed with bowel cancer. It is the second most common cause of cancer deaths in the UK. All adults aged between 54 and 74 years of age are sent a screening kit (known as a FIT Kit) every 2 years. Taking part in bowel screening could save your life. Bowel cancer screening uses a small sample of your stools collected at home to detect blood from polyps that may develop into cancer over time.
We encourage all patients to complete this important screening when you receive your FIT Kit in the post. If you missed your last screening date, you can order another free FIT Kit from the Bowel Cancer Screening Service by calling 0800 707 60 60.
If you have symptoms such a bleeding from your bottom, don’t assume it is ‘Piles’. You don’t need to wait for a screening kit if you have symptoms. Please contact us on 02392 009 191. We can provide you with a test kit.
Bowel cancer screening saves lives. Don’t put it off.
