Bowel Cancer Screening

Every 15 minutes, someone in England and Wales is diagnosed with bowel cancer. It is the second most common cause of cancer deaths in the UK. All adults aged between 54 and 74 years of age are sent a screening kit (known as a FIT Kit) every 2 years.

Breast Screening Saves Lives

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

It is important to attend Breast Cancer screening when you are invited. The mobile screening unit in Portsmouth screens each GP Practice’s patients in turn. Portsdown patients were last contacted for screening between January and July 2024. Keep an eye on our news page for updates on when screening begins again.

Attending for breast screening is an important part of being breast aware for women. There is concern locally that women who’ve been called for screening for the first time are not attending which may leave them at a higher risk of not detecting breast cancer early. For further information, please call the breast screening unit on 02392 286 336 or email them at [email protected]

It is important to contact us if you have any of the below symptoms.
